Dungeon World: The Hungering Doom
The elves are a fair, lithe race of creatures from The Great Woods. Physiologically elves have a far longer average lifespan compared to the other races, typically elves reach maturity at their 40th year and can expect to live beyond their 5th century. Despite this, their forms are rather more frail when compared to a humans and they typically avoid endangering themselves in frivolous activity like sport.
This gives the other races the misleading notion that elves are weak and ineffective warriors. Those who have faced elves in battle know this is untrue. Their natural grace and fluidity of movement gives them impeccable balance and the centuries they have available to them to train makes their elite warriors the most precise swordsmen of any race. Perhaps because of their frail forms, all elvish warriors are trained in archery, and the ability to craft and accurately use a bow and arrow is expected from all elves before their 40th year. Needless to say the cultural importance of archery and their centuries of training combined with their natural grace makes elvish archers the best of their kind. This is to say nothing of the powerful magic said to be innate in all elves.
